Automation of assembly line

We have finished an automation of a semi-automatic assembly line of steering wheel levers. Our task was to wire a cabinet and lay cables within the machine and also to develop a control software. The machine uses a Beckhoff PLC which controls FESTO servo controllers over an EtherCAT network and communicates with FESTO camera, too.

This special-purpose machine is operated by person who inserts parts into sockets and presses a start button. The system then checks the printed symbols with a camera and then assembles a lever together. The assembly line is universal and can be used for many variants of turn indicator and wiper signal levers thanks to the possibility of changing the part sockets.
